Carl Trueman on the Reformation, Part 5

Carl Trueman on the Reformation, Part Four ]

In lecture 5, Dr. Trueman points out that Luther was coming to the conclusion that the church needed to rethink its entire theological method in terms of the incarnation. Luther’s driving questions is this: Where can I find a gracious God?

Dr. Trueman covers Scholasticism, Mazzolini Prierias, Georg Spalatin, Thomas Cajetan, Thomas Aquinas, and Philip Melancthon. He also discusses the context of the times in which Luther lived and the confluence of events that worked in Luther’s favor at a time when “reformers didn’t die in their beds happily.”
